Run the Planets is a family oriented Race/Walk for participants of all ages on April 9 at 9am at Detweiler Park. There is a 5K Race for all ages; 1 mile Fitness Walk; 1/2 mile Kids’ Fun Run
- Walk or run through portions of the world’s largest model of the solar system, an experience that is out of this world.
- Participants will follow the routes of interplanetary explorers through the solar system from the Earth to Mercury, Venus and Mars. The total distance for the 5K runners will be equal to the distance from Earth to Jupiter.
- Participants will receive a special one-week free membership to Lakeview Museum, a Tee shirt that is truly out of this World, down to earth refreshments after the race, free car wash Coupon from Beachlers’Servicenter, a free Terry the Tractor book for Kids’ Fun Run participants ... and more!
- The Lakeview Museum Community Solar System was recognized by Guinness Book of Records from 1993-1998, when the category was retired, as the largest such model in the world. The “Sun” is Lakeview’s 36’ diameter planetarium. The “Earth” is 4 inches across
and 3/4 miles from the Sun. The dwarf planet, “Pluto”,is 40 miles away and Eris is 70 miles away. (No, we’re not going to run to Pluto!)
