Taste the Book! at Lakeview Branch
June 12, 10:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. Individuals, families and community groups are
encouraged to create an edible book. The public is invited to view and vote on the creations, mingle with other bookish types and enjoy light refreshments. Challengers may use only edible materials to create an entry that is somehow related to any book title of their choice. It may look like a book, be inspired by a book or be a pun on a book title. All entries must be made of edible ingredients, with a list of those ingredients accompanying the entry. Entries should be dropped off between 10am and 2pm. Judging begins at 3pm and the winner will be announced at 6pm. After the announcement, prizes will be awarded and entries can be eaten. All ages welcome!

Jr. Chef
Our next free hands-on cooking class for 3rd through 5th graders is at 2 p.m on
June 23. We will be indulging in our sweet tooth by making candy sushi. To ensure

Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs
Come play with food on June 26 at 2 p.m. and not get into trouble! This food fun program is for children in Kindergarten- 5th grade. There is no registration for this free program

Wacky Science
We will be making ice cream in a bag at our next Wacky Science program for
Kindergarteners through 5th graders on July 12 at 6:30 p.m. Kindergarteners
through 2nd graders need to be accompanied by an adult There is no registration

MAKE IT/TAKE IT CRAFTS
Hungry for some fun? Then come to the library at 2:00 p.m.on Wednesdays for crafts. All crafts are for children ages four and older. There is no registration. The library does request, however, that the child be a participant in the summer reading program. Parents are asked to attend with their child if he/she is Kindergarten age or younger. Some of the crafts will be done on a first-come, first-served basis due to limited supplies.

PLAYING WITH FOOD
Join us on the following Thursdays at 2:00 pm as we chow down on information and a snack. This program is for school age children.
June 21 - Composting with our wiggly friends - Russ Burchman and his wiggly friends will be our guest as we learn about vermi-compostng.
June 28 - Healthy Snacks - Kathy from U of I Extension will talk about snacks and we will make one to take home.
July 12 - Ice Cream – We’ll be celebrating National Ice Cream Day by making it in a bag.
July 19 - Pizza Day - Mamma Mia, we’ll be playing games and making mini pizzas.
July 26 - Apples & Pumpkins - Looking ahead to fall and its fun foods.
