What is Mommy Moments?
Mommy Moments is a ministry of First United Methodist Church for mothers and soon-to-be-mothers of young children. It is a weekly gathering (with free childcare) that encourages women in their parenting, marriages, and their life at home.
When are the meetings?
Mommy Moments meets Monday mornings from 9:15 to 11:15 a.m. at FUMC Peoria. Children may be dropped off at 9:10 a.m. The program year runs from September 12, 2011 to May, 2012. The programs rotate among Bible Study, Just for fun, and Educational topics.
What should I expect?
Mommy Moments is not a play date. Rather it is a time for mothers to be refreshed, renewed, and refocused, so they can better care for their children. Each week there is social time with refreshments, door prizes, announcements and prayer. Afterward is a prepared program that varies each week from Bible study, to a professional speaker, to an open forum when issues are discussed that are common among moms with small children. Expect to meet new friends with shared experiences. Expect to laugh and to be understood. Expect to have fun and to learn. Expect to look forward to Monday mornings.
What about the children?
While the mothers are meeting, the children participate in an excellent and well-planned pre-school program called Tot Time (and it is free!). Childcare workers are screened, trained and experienced. The same workers will care for your children each week so so they will get to know your child as an individual and will know how to care specifically for his/her needs. Infants up to 2 years old are cared for in two nursery rooms (one for infants and one for walkers). Children age 2-5 engage in pre-school activities that teach about Christ’s love for them. If you are nursing or have a child that you want to keep with you, you are welcome to bring your child down to the meeting with the other moms.
