Posted on: Fri, 08/12/2011 - 16:17| By: GinaBina

The Fall Semester of Kindermusik at Trinity begins the week of September 12. Daytime, afternoon and evening classes are offered for children ages newborn to 7 yr.

In a Kindermusik class you'll play, listen and dance to music that will impact you and your child in profound ways. So whether it's twirling under a sea of scarves, experimenting with age-appropriate instruments, singing about a scampering squirrel, creating a musical ensemble, or snuggling in your lap during story time, Kindermusik speaks your child's language and offers her(and you!) the best music and moveent class available. Register now for the Fall Semester of classes by contacting Marie Dicke at 676-4609/kindermusik@trinitypeoria.com, Visit the Kindermusik website for prices and a complete schedule.

1st Half of Semester - Feathers (birth to 1½ yr)

• Picture book of birds
• Art banners to strengthen vision and promote early literacy

2nd Half of Semester - Do-Si-Do (birth to 1½ yr)

• 1 Home CD with lyrics
• Kindermusik egg shaker and scarf
• Picture board book
• Art banners to strengthen vision and promote early literacy

Wiggles and Giggles (18 months to 3½ years old)
The more than 30 songs, 15 dances, and eight different instruments create these unique music activities, designed to reflect the importance of movement in the life of a toddler.
Your home materials include:
• 2 Home CD with lyrics and sounds
• Pair of Zig-Zag blocks to develop rhythm and eye-hand coordination
• 2 Storybooks(Pete & PJ and Watch Me!) to develop early literacy skills

See What I Saw (3½ to 5 years old)
In this class, preschoolers use their real experience of playing in the park to create imaginative, storytelling scenarios with music—go on an imaginary trip to Grasshopper Park where they sail down the park slide and then recreate the sound of that experience with a loooong vocal glissando. Each week provides preschoolers one uninterrupted session of imaginative play that's guided in a very specific, sequential way—with a special sharing time with parents in the last 15 minutes of class.
Your home materials include:
• 2 Home CD
• a slide whistle instrument, a slide whistle and lumi sticks instruments, and a backpack.
• 2 books—Can You Find Me? and The Ant Picnic Feastt

Kindermusik for the Young Child (5 to 7 years old)
Semester 1 - Everything your child learns later in semesters 2, 3, and 4 begins with this early introduction to singing, reading, and writing music and rhythm. Through dances and games that focus on rhythmic development, we'll learn a keyboard instrument—the glockenspiel—which will be used throughout all the Young Child classes. Your At Home Materials provide the music, instruments, stickers, and activities for a home version of the same playful activities you'll hear about from class, so your child—and you!—can learn where you're most comfortable: at home.
Semester 3 - Appalachian music is a featured musical style this semester. First, you and your child will build a two-stringed dulcimer instrument with materials that we'll provide. Then in class we'll learn to play chords and simple melodies on the instrument you built together. We'll also explore rhythm concepts through dance with an introduction to the basic steps in jazz, ballet, and tap dances. Your Home Materials include dulcimer-making materials, activity cards, and music that features recordings from Appalachia, African-America, and Native American music, as well as the Western Art music of the Nutcracker Suite.
Your home materials include
• Children’s folder with stickers
• 1 Home CD of music from class
• Family Songbook
• Glockenspiel (Semester 1), Dulcimer (Semester 3), Soprano Recorder (Semester 4)

Family Time ~ Our Kind of Day (newborn – 7 years old)
Music time isn't just at music class, it's all day long! What better way to build family bonds than to sprinkle music and movement throughout playtime, mealtime, clean-up time, bathtime, and nighttime? At each lesson, parents are given ideas for creativity and insights into their child’s development. With catchy songs such as “Wishy, Washy, Wee” for bathtime, “Go Into the Kitchen” for mealtime, and "Love Somebody" at bedtime—parenting becomes easier and a lot more fun! Over the course of 10 weeks, each lesson is packed with singing, listening, storytime, puppet play, creative movement, instrument play, family jams, and sharing.
