Linden Hill Farms Special Events: Harvest Festival, Children's Day, Sheep Shearing Day

Linden Hill Farms has several special events happening in October.  Oct 6-7 is their Harvest Festival, Oct 8 is Children's Day, & Oct 13 is their Sheep Shearing Day.   Read below or visit the peoriaparent.com calendar for more info.  
 
Harvest Kick Off festival is Oct. 6  from 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 7 from  9 a.m. - 5 p.m. They are going to have a Rooster Crowing Contest on Saturday at 10 a.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m., as well as the Farm Challenge Scavenger Hunt, homemade ice cream, food, picnic area and local vendors.

Our autumn experience always includes picking our own pumpkins from the field. We've picked our pumpkins at Christ Orchard the last two years. There's plenty to do at these farms & orchards besides pumpkin picking. Below is a list of the local farms & orchards and their offerings. Visit one, or visit all of them for family fun!

Christ Orchard in Elmwood: U-Pick pumpkins, apples, cider, farm animals, edible & decorative squash. Christ Orchard is quainter than the others.

Morton’s Punkin’ Chunkin’ is an exciting event where pumpkins are launched by catapults and other homemade machines, just to see how far a pumpkin can be hurled.
 

Sommer Park’s Fall Peep ® Diorama Contest

OCTOBER 1 DEADLINE.  Kick off the fall season by entering Sommer Park’s Fall Peep ® Diorama Contest.  Marshmallow Peeps ® aren’t just for Easter! Use the pumpkins, ghost & cats to make a diorama of a famous occurrence or scene depicting autumn or Halloween. It can be an historic or current event or a scene from a famous scary movie. All characters in the diorama must be played by Halloween Peeps®.  Possible ideas include: “Silence of the Peeps®,” “Nightmare on Peep® Street”  Dioramas will be judged by the public during Hayrides & Hotdogs every Thursday night in October.
