Financial Literacy

Posted on: Fri, 01/11/2008 - 22:06| By: pdaddy

The educational system does not provide personal finance education like they do for basic reading and math skills. Basic personal finance courses are not mandatory core courses even all the way to colleges unless you are in finance. Financial literacy in areas such as investments, credit cards, mortgages, loans, & credit scores are just a few items that our children will be facing in the real world. Education in these areas are essential tools to equip the kids when they eventually go out to the real world on their own. Education as well as showing examples through practice are ways to that we can provide our children the financial education.

Parents and schools should teach financial literacy. I know TOO MANY college students and young adults who get into personal debt with credit cards.
