Learning projects occur regularly at the UPC Discovery Preschool and Northminster Learning Center Preschool.  The fire truck project at UPC Discovery excited kids from beginning to the end as demonstrated from their timepoint drawings and journals.  The kids’ interests were sparked by seeing a fire truck pass by the school window everyday.  They read about fire trucks, created a fire truck out of a refrigerator box, tried to wear authentic firefighter boots and a coat, asked real firefighters questions, went inside a real fire truck & looked at its equipment up close, counted ladders on a fire truck,  sang songs about fire trucks, drew & journaled their experiences, and morel.  This evening February workshop at UPC Discovery Learning will elaborate more on how to continue project-based learning like this in your home.
